Homespun Easter GIVEAWAY

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,

the emblem of suffering and shame;

and I love that old cross where the dearest and best

for a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,

Til my trophies at last I lay down;

I will cling to the old rugged cross,

and exchange it some day for a crown.

(Excerpt lyrics from The Old Rugged Cross by George  Bennard)

With Easter only a few short weeks away our thoughts are naturally turning to the Cross.  So much hope and joy and love is wrapped up in such a simple symbol.  In order to encourage your thoughts to turn toward the Cross, we’re giving away a beautiful, completely finished “Old Ragged Cross” wall hanging.  This unique piece of art is made with Jubilee homespun fabrics in soft, primitive colors embellished with square antiqued copper nailheads from Jubilee Rhinestones.  The project is then mounted on an art canvas and ready to hang in your home.  Somehow this wall art manages to be both contemporary and primitive.  The Old Ragged Cross wall art pictured here measures 12″ x 24″.  We are promoting this piece near Easter but you can celebrate the message of the Cross throughout the year with this versatile wall hanging.

To win this Old Ragged Cross wall art simply leave a comment on this blog post.  Any comment will enter you to win, but sticking with the Old Rugged Cross theme, I’d like to hear your favorite hymn or chorus or song.

Comment entries will be accepted through Saturday, March 24th.  If you aren’t the lucky winner of the wall hanging you can still make one of your own!  Our Old Ragged Cross wall art kits (pattern and fabric included) are on sale until April 1st.  We’d also like to congratulate Jenny, the winner of our DREAM pillow giveaway last week!

  10. Sandra Taylor says:

My favorite hymn is “In The Garden”. It was my grandmother’s favorite and she taught me to play it on her organ when I was only 9. It was sang at her funeral and also at my mother’s funeral and at my youngest son’s funeral. I hope my surviving son remembers it for mine. I always feel so at peace when I hear this song. Many times when I am despaired, I sing it to myself as it delivers me comfort.

Good luck to all those that are really wishing to win it. I am certain it will be a blessing to the winner.

  11. Shannon Wallace says:

My favorite hymn is Trust and Obey. We moved to WA state a few weeks after our 7 year old son passed away (we are military). At our new church in WA, they often sang this hymn, and it quickly became my favorite because it gave me hope that if we simply trust and obey Him, then we will be happy! I needed that comfort (still do) and hope, and singing that song to my Father helped me a lot! :)

    • Sandra Taylor says:

Shannon~~~~I am so sorry to hear that you lost your 7 year old son. I too know how hard that can be. My oldest son is recently medically retired from the army. He has TBI and PTSD. I honor your husband and your support in the military and thank you!

      Sandra

  12. Lacey says:

My favorite hymn is “Be Thou My Vision”. It’s always a comfort and always calming, simply put it is a wonderful song! The first time I heard this song in college I was in complete awe and in the 10 years since I have never forgotten that awe feeling “Still be my vision, Oh, Lord of my heart!”

    • Rags-n-Rhinestones says:

I think Be Thou My Vision might be my favorite too. I go back and forth between that one and Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.

  13. Diane Smith says:

this looks like a real nice design. That is one of my favorite hymns. Jesus paid the price

  14. Evan Martin says:

Love this design, new to the crafting like this, but wouldnt this be a great project. I was recently Baptized on March 12, 2012 and to feel the way I do know, I wish I had went to church long time ago, to know what God gave up for me and my sins, having a wall quilt such as this one hanging, would be such a nice reminder everyday when I wake up, reminding me of what was given up for me. I am so thankful to my church family and to the church for helping me see the way and helping me be saved and prepared. As one person said in Bible Study, If God were on the planning comittee, we wouldn’t need him on the Clean up committee. God Bless

    • Diane Smith says:

      that is wonderful news

      • Evan Martin says:

Thank you, I tell you, the minute I came up from being baptized, I felt like a totally new person. I haven’t felt this good and revived in so long. I have a long list of health issues, from Heart Failure, Kidney Failure, Diabetes and more, and I have my Faith back that God will work a miracle in me. The Pastor of my church has been fantastic on helping me understand, and I could never repay him for all he has done.

  15. Major Wade says:

I am changing my home decor to primitive and this wall hanging would look beautiful in my husbands study.(He is a minister) I love your fabrics and look forward to buying more in the future.

  16. Michelle says:

This is a beautiful project. I could not even imagine where I would be without the cross. I have so many favorite hymns, but two that mean so much to me is the The Old Rugged Cross, and It is Well With my Soul. If it were not for my grandparents taking me to church when I was young, I would not know what the true meaning of the cross is, and the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us all. Thank you so much for using your business to spread the gospel. I love your website, and your products.

  17. Trieste says:

LOVE your name for this wall hanging.
    (o:
When peace like a river attendeth my way; When sorrows like sea billows roll, Whatever the cost, Thou hast taught me to say, “It is well… it is well with my soul.”

  18. Karen Mason says:

  20. Elisa says:

My favorite hymn is I’ll Fly Away. I hate the thought of ever dying but this song makes me feel full of joy and reminds me that with Gods promise life is continuing with him in heaven. When I first ordered fabric from you I was excited to see the scripture verses with my package. I am starting a business and never thought of spreading the faith with my products but after doing business with yall I have already begun too. Thank you!
