Jubilee Photo Contest

A couple weeks ago I encouraged you all to take pictures of the wonderful items you’ve created with Jubilee Rhinestones and/or Jubilee Fabrics.  I hope you took some good pictures because we’re giving you a chance to win a $30 gift certificate to one of the Jubilee online stores — and all you have to do is submit a photo of your handiwork!

So, here are the details:

1.  You email us photos and a brief description of projects you’ve completed using Jubilee Rhinestones and/or Jubilee Fabrics.

2.  We will post the pictures on the Jubilee Rhinestones and Jubilee Fabrics facebook pages and possibly on this blog.

3.  We will randomly select a rhinestone project winner and a homespun fabric project winner.  The winner is randomly selected so send in those photos even if you think your project isn’t as unique or difficult as others.

4.  The winners will each receive a $30 gift certificate!

Simply send us a photo and you could win — it’s that easy!  But you can’t win if you don’t enter!!

To enter the contest, email your photo(s) and a brief description to stefanie@jubileecreativestudio.com by Saturday, May 19th.  That gives you over two weeks to finish any almost-done projects and take pics!

We’ve even put all of our Route 66 homespun fabrics on sale to help you get started!  We’re excited to see how YOU use Jubilee Rhinestones and Jubilee Fabrics!

The Fine Print:

Please note that we will post your first name and last initial with your photo unless you specifically ask us not to use your name.  All photos submitted to this contest may be used for promotional purposes by Jubilee Creative Studio.  Also, we reserve the right to not post any photo that we deem to be unacceptable.  Examples of unacceptable photos are:  poor quality photos (e.g. low-res cell phone pictures), photos of products that are not primarily made with Jubilee products, inappropriate photos, etc.

Did everyone get their taxes filed on time??  I hope so!  Whether you’re feeling dejected because you just sent the IRS your hard-earned money or elated because they just sent you a big fat check we’ve got something to take your mind off taxes for a while.  Jubilee Fabric customers Stephanie and Jessica got together to make these adorable matching rag-style skirts for their daughters.   They used our Li’l Dumpling skirt pattern and added their own special touch by embellishing shirts with little rag-style hearts to match!

It’s always great to see photos of the items our customers create with Jubilee fabrics and rhinestones.  And we want to see more!!  We’ll be announcing an exciting contest soon in which YOU can submit photos of products you made with Jubilee Fabrics or Jubilee Rhinestones for a chance to win an awesome prize.  I’ll be posting all the details on May 1st but in the meantime you need to take pictures of all the cute, crazy, or crafty items you’ve created.  Or maybe you need to finish that amazing project you’ve been working on so you can submit it for the contest.  You still have time!

CONGRATULATIONS to Carla S. for winning our Big Baseball Bling giveaway.  She was so excited to win!  She’ll have a busy summer cheering for her son on all of his traveling teams but at least she’ll have plenty of baseball bling to cheer him on in style!

Homespun Easter GIVEAWAY

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,

the emblem of suffering and shame;

and I love that old cross where the dearest and best

for a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,

Til my trophies at last I lay down;

I will cling to the old rugged cross,

and exchange it some day for a crown.

(Excerpt lyrics from The Old Rugged Cross by George  Bennard)

With Easter only a few short weeks away our thoughts are naturally turning to the Cross.  So much hope and joy and love is wrapped up in such a simple symbol.  In order to encourage your thoughts to turn toward the Cross, we’re giving away a beautiful, completely finished “Old Ragged Cross” wall hanging.  This unique piece of art is made with Jubilee homespun fabrics in soft, primitive colors embellished with square antiqued copper nailheads from Jubilee Rhinestones.  The project is then mounted on an art canvas and ready to hang in your home.  Somehow this wall art manages to be both contemporary and primitive.  The Old Ragged Cross wall art pictured here measures 12″ x 24″.  We are promoting this piece near Easter but you can celebrate the message of the Cross throughout the year with this versatile wall hanging.

To win this Old Ragged Cross wall art simply leave a comment on this blog post.  Any comment will enter you to win, but sticking with the Old Rugged Cross theme, I’d like to hear your favorite hymn or chorus or song.

Comment entries will be accepted through Saturday, March 24th.  If you aren’t the lucky winner of the wall hanging you can still make one of your own!  Our Old Ragged Cross wall art kits (pattern and fabric included) are on sale until April 1st.  We’d also like to congratulate Jenny, the winner of our DREAM pillow giveaway last week!

2012: Craft it with Jubilee!

Congratulations to Patricia J., the winner of our Bright Ragged Quilt Kit!  She said it will make a great gift for her new granddaughter.  These quilts are so cozy and colorful that it’s sure to become a family heirloom enjoyed by generations of little girls.

So, it’s January 31st (or February — depending on when you read this!).  How are you doing on your New Year’s resolutions?  Did you make any?  Are they big, life-changing resolutions or did you resolve to change a few small things to make your life better?  One of my resolutions is to complete at least one sewing project every month.  I’m new at sewing and not very good (my Mom and sister are the seamstresses of the family) but I’m trying to get better.  Of course, the only way to get better at something is to practice, practice, practice!

I almost failed to keep my resolution in the first month but managed to squeak out this fun and easy project on the last day of January.  The fun thing about having young kids in the house is getting to put up not-so-subtle decorations for all the holidays.  I especially love hanging things over our bay window area.  I sewed these ragged LOVE letters and hearts using our Peppermint Pink, Petal Pink 2, and Strawberry Pink homespun fabrics (with cardboard between the front and back layers so that they wouldn’t be floppy).  As soon as my daughter saw them she requested that I sew her name to hang up in her room!

Don’t look TOO closely at the pictures — there are MANY mistakes — but overall I’m pleased with my January sewing project.  Tomorrow the kids and I will write things they love on little paper hearts and pin them on the clothesline also.  I’ve done things like this with construction/scrapbook paper in the past but I love the texture and richness of the fabric letters.  And it will be easy to store these and use them again next year.  Perhaps I should start working on the word LUCK and some shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day!

Quilt Kit GIVEAWAY and SALE

Are the cold weather and overcast skies making you feel blue?  Are you looking forward to bright flowers, colorful flip-flops, and sunny days?  We’ve had a very mild winter here in the Midwest but the absence of snow only makes the bare trees and brown grass seem all the more drab.  If you’re looking for a bright spot during these winter months then maybe it’s time to start a new project!  A Bright Ragged Homespun Quilt is the perfect way to add a bit of color to these dreary winter months.

A friend sent us these cute pictures of Baby Ellie “modeling” a Bright Ragged Homespun Quilt for us.  Isn’t she a doll??  These colorful quilts make great baby quilts or girl’s bedspreads (and would look great with matching curtains!!).  I have so many pictures of my own baby girl on a bright quilt like this — it really makes the pictures pop!

Our Bright Fabrics, Bright Fat Quarters, and Bright Ragged Homespun Quilt Kits are all 10% off until January 31st to help you get started on your Bright project.  Order today and you’ll have something to do during the Super Bowl!  Or, if you’re a sports fan like me, something to do on Sunday afternoons now that football is over.

AND we’re giving away a Bright Ragged Homespun Quilt Kit to one blog reader!  The kit includes over 200 6″ precut bright fabric squares — enough to make a 40″ x 50″ quilt!  To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment on this blog post.  Tell me your favorite snowy/rainy day activity!  Comment entries will be accepted through Saturday, January 28th.

Have a BRIGHT day!

Li’l Dumpling Girls Skirt

I was talking with a friend about what my next sewing project should be and she suggested I sew a skirt for my daughter.  I was reminded of the supercute ragged skirt that a girl in the Studio made for my daughter this summer.  Isn’t this skirt precious??  Of course, I’m partial to the model but I think this tiered skirt could make even a tree stump look adorable!  Flora’s skirt was made with our Red Delicious fabrics but could be created with any of the colors in our Jubilee Fabric collection.  In fact, I might take my friend’s advice and make one of these skirts in a different color for next summer!

Do you have a Li’l Dumpling in mind who needs a unique skirt like this in her summer wardrobe?  We’d like to help you get started by giving away a print pattern for this skirt!  This project is easy and rewarding — people will ooh and ahh over her one-of-a-kind skirt.  We offer both a print pattern and a digital download pattern for this project.  The patterns include instructions for small (2/3), medium (4/5), and large (6) and could be easily modified to make even larger sizes.  Maybe matching Mommy & Me skirts??

To enter the giveaway for this Li’l Dumpling Girls Ragged Skirt Pattern, simply leave a comment on this blog.  Tell me what color skirt you would make!  Entries will be accepted through Saturday, January 14th.

New Year Sales!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

2012…..wow!  We hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas.  Ours was very busy but full of good things — my daughter participated in her first Christmas program at church and we were able to see both my parents and my husband’s parents during the Christmas season.  I even sewed my mother-in-law’s Christmas present using Jubilee fabrics – surprise, surprise!   I sewed this reversible apron using three complementary patterns of our Garden Greens fabrics.  She loved it and I was happy to make her something that she could use!

Are you anxious to start some sewing projects now that the busyness of the holidays is over?  Or maybe you got a sewing machine for Christmas and want to try out a simple rag-style project like this apron?  Either way — we’ve got a sale to help you get started!  Enter the coupon code JOY2012 at checkout to receive 10% off all fabric by the yard.  A $20 minimum purchase is required.  The sale ends Saturday so make your selections and start 2012 on the right sewing foot!

We’re also running a big sale in the Jubilee Rhinestones store.  We’re offering 25% off iron on transfers and loose stones with a $20 minimum order.  The coupon code is JOY2012.  This sale also ends Saturday so act now and make 2012 sparkle!
